Service Description

The transition to kindergarten is a major milestone, and it can bring a mix of excitement and anxiety for both parents and children. This four-session parent support group is designed to help parents of children entering kindergarten in September navigate this transition with confidence and ease. What You’ll Gain: Practical strategies to ease your child’s transition to kindergarten. Tools to support emotional readiness and reduce first-day jitters. Insights into fostering independence, social skills, and school readiness. Tips for managing routines and prioritizing parent self-care during this busy time. Workshop Breakdown: Session 1: Preparing for the Transition Starting kindergarten can be overwhelming. In this session, we’ll discuss what kindergarten is really like—routines, expectations, and how to prepare your child emotionally. You’ll learn strategies to ease first-day anxiety, set expectations, and navigate the change with confidence. Parents will share their experiences and brainstorm practical tips for a smooth transition. Session 2: Emotional Readiness & Coping Skills Many children face separation anxiety when starting school. This session will cover how to assess your child’s emotional readiness and ways to support them through any fears or anxiety. Learn strategies to foster emotional resilience and ways to talk about school with your child to ease worries. Session 3: Social Skills & Making Friends Kindergarten is a time for developing social skills. In this session, we’ll focus on helping your child build positive relationships, manage conflicts, and enhance communication. You’ll learn ways to encourage cooperation and empathy, as well as how to help your child overcome worries about making new friends. Session 4: Practical Tips & Parent Self-Care The final session will focus on managing daily routines, from preparing for early mornings to setting up productive after-school habits. We’ll discuss how to create a balanced home routine that supports school readiness and helps your child stay engaged in learning. This session will also address the importance of parent self-care during this busy time, with stress-relief tips and strategies for balancing parenting and school responsibilities. This workshop provides a supportive environment for parents to share experiences and learn from one another. Whether your child is excited or nervous about kindergarten, you’ll leave with the tools and confidence to ensure a positive start to their school
