Teen Therapists in Coquitlam

Teenagers are re-defining who they are, developing new values, and gaining a sense of belonging.
All in the midst of feeling confused, stressed, lonely, and lost.
As teens might prefer to talk, we offer talk therapy with the option of incorporating art/expressive therapy if this matches their style. Often, you will see us discussing an important theme while doodling, drawing, playing boardgames, and even walking around the clinic while offering a warm and supportive space that encourages trust and self-expression.

Working Together
Counselling sessions are targeted to every family as adolescents' needs are unique. However, in general we propose the following:

OPTIONAL Intake session with caregivers: before starting to work with teens, we can meet with parents to discuss concerns, observations, goals for therapy, and brainstorm new strategies to try at home.

Working with teens: regular weekly or bi-weekly 50-minute sessions are recommended for installing and practicing new skills, ways of thinking and ways of being.

OPTIONAL Debrief with caregivers: we understand that teenagers have the right to confidentiality. We also understand that parents have concerns and want to support their teen's journey. Please know we work systemically, encouraging teens to allow us to update parents on their progress.
