Irene Hiro
MEd, RCC (in progress)
Child & Family Counsellor
Counselling Associate

My name is Irene, and I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology with a School & Youth concentration at Adler University. I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education & Coaching with a Minor in Applied Psychology from Douglas College and am working toward becoming a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).
Supporting children, youth, and families has always been at the heart of my work. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with little ones in early development, youth navigating big emotions and transitions, and families seeking extra support. As an infant development consultant I bring vast experience with preschoolers and parent support. I worked at the Foundry Ridge Meadows, where I supported adolescents and young adults experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental health concerns.
In my counselling work, I take a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, drawing from CBT, narrative therapy, polyvagal theory, and solution-focused practices. I also love to integrate play and creativity into sessions when it feels right. My goal is always to create a space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported as they move toward growth and healing.
Since words on a page can only share so much, I welcome the chance to connect in person and explore if working together might feel like a good fit.
