I believe every individual has an inner knowing that reveals what is best for themselves. At times of struggle, conflict, or challenge, these moments of clarity become suppressed, unable to access or unsafe to acknowledge; at this point, a sense of safety within and with another is required to begin the process of healing. This is where our work begins.
I am passionate about working with children, youth, and families to help discover this inner knowing, strengths/areas of growth, goals and finally, to embark on the journey of healing. Through being fully present and engaged with you, I hope to facilitate feelings of safety and security for you to allow a deeper therapeutic journey to arise.
I have been an elementary teacher for over 12 years. I am currently working with the Surrey School District and have
taught grades K-7. I have experience working with children with emotional, social, and academic needs, anxiety, ADHD, and severe behaviour challenges. I have learned that if children feel safe in their bodies, environment and with others, changes in behaviour and academics follow.
My educational background consists of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Sociology from Simon Fraser University as well as a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from University of British Columbia. I am in the process of completing my Master of Education in School Counselling (M. Ed) from City University of Seattle. The approaches I include in my practice are Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, Attachment-based Therapy, and Poly Vagal Therapy. I believe in collaborating with you to discover skills and strategies that will bring about change/growth and guide your journey.
