Candice Estrañero

Strong connections with ourselves, our families, our communities, and our loved ones are central to well-being, safety, and identity. These relationships can be deeply meaningful and supportive, and at the same time, they can also be complex and challenging. This is a normal and very human part of life. Supporting you through these challenges in a way that feels authentic, respectful, and aligned with your needs is an important part of my work.

I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of British Columbia and am a Registered Social Worker (RSW). For over 8 years, I have had the privilege of working with youth and adults seeking support with their relationship to mental health, self-perception, emotional well-being, family and social relationships, and substance use concerns.

My clinical experience spans non-profit organizations, government services, and hospital settings, allowing me to support individuals across a range of complex life circumstances and systems of care.

I work from an attachment-based, strengths-based, trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally humble framework, while also attending to the broader social, cultural, and systemic factors that shape mental health and well-being. I believe it is essential to understand not only the individual, but also the environments and systems that influence their experiences.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and draws from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Play Therapy principles, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused approaches, and somatic-based practices such as mindfulness, parts work/Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapy, and EMDR resourcing techniques. I tailor my approach to meet each person where they are, collaboratively building a path that feels safe, grounded, and meaningful.

I value collaboration at every stage of the therapeutic process, with the goal of building a trusting, authentic, and supportive relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and create meaningful change.

I warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. I also hold intersecting identities myself, and I deeply believe in creating spaces where people feel they belong as they are—without needing to change or explain themselves.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy dancing, hiking, swimming, and laughing until it hurts.

I look forward to walking alongside you, learning together, and supporting you through both the challenges and strengths in your journey.
