Child Therapist in Coquitlam with

Fully functional play room

You love your children, want the best for them and have probably tried different strategies already.
Still, you might be wondering why your child is struggling.

Play therapy offers a warm and engaging space for children to express themselves.

When asked, young children have limited words to tell adults how they feel and think. Play, on the other hand, helps them process experiences, explore different perspectives, and solve problems, all in a safe way.

  • Sadness/being shy or shutting down

  • Anxiety and worries

  • Aggressive/explosive behaviour

  • Separation anxiety

Working together
Counselling sessions are targeted to every family as children's needs are unique. However, in general I propose the following:
1st - Intake session with caregivers: we discuss your concerns, goals for therapy, and brainstorm new strategies to try at home or at school.
2nd - Working with children: weekly 50-minute sessions are recommended as children need time to develop trust, get to know the environment and process what brought them to counselling.
3rd - Debrief with caregivers: after having met and worked with your child we meet to discuss how to best support him or her. We identify strengths and areas of growth and collaborate on ideas to continue helping your child grow and develop.
Throughout the process you can expect open communication, frequent check-ins and if requested, collaboration with schools, daycares or other professionals involved as well as participation in case management meetings.
